Top climate scientists issued a “code red for humanity” recently, warning that this is our last chance to implement the transformational changes necessary to keep warming below 1.5 C (2.7 F) and avoid the most dangerous impacts of climate change.
Good news! The CT Legislature passed two critical climate SB 10 An Act Concerning Climate Change Mitigation and Senate Bill 176 An Act Concerning Clean Energy Tariff Programs. These bills will help Connecticut reduce greenhouse gas emissions, protect public health and our environment.
Now we need to make sure SB 4 AAC the Connecticut Clean Air Act makes it over the finish line! SB 4 requires that all the state’s light duty vehicles be zero-emission by 2030. It requires 100% zero-emission school buses in Environmental Justice communities by 2030 with the rest of state by 2035.
It would authorize the Department of Energy and Environmental Protection (DEEP) to pass regulations to adopt California medium and heavy-duty vehicle emission standards.
Take Action! Contact your legislators today and urge them to support and pass SB 4 before the end of session.
