The Legislative Session is in full swing but everything is happening virtually. Still Clean Water Action is working hard, attending on-line meetings and advocating for strong PFAS restrictions on food packaging and firefighting foam.
PFAS chemicals are found in firefighting foam, food packaging/food service ware, textiles, cookware and many other products. These “forever chemicals” have contaminated drinking water supplies and are linked to certain cancers, liver damage, and suppress the immune system.
Our team is talking with school districts, health professionals and concerned parents to promote reusable dishware and PFAS free food packaging in schools. We also need our legislators to take comprehensive action on PFAS during the 2021 legislative session.
Take action! Contact your legislators and ask them to restrict PFAS in firefighting foam and food packaging and set a strict drinking water standard (MCL) for PFAS.
