Demand clean air and non-toxic products for everyone! Support Bills H2230, S1447
During COVID-19, we’ve watched our communities face increased mortality from respiratory diseases due to high levels of air pollution coming from cars, trucks, trains, boats, and planes. This injustice has disproportionately affected BIPOC communities in Massachusetts.
At the same time PFAS, or polyfluoroalkyl substances, may be worsening the COVID-19 crisis. This group of chemicals that are used in a shockingly wide array of consumer products can cause cancer, impact kidney and liver functions, and high cholesterol- all of which are factors that increase the severity of COVID. Even worse, people with high levels of PFAS in their blood have lower immune responses, including reduced response to a range of vaccines.
We need to act fast. An Act to Improve Outdoor and Indoor Air Quality for Communities Burdened by Transportation Pollution will improve indoor and outdoor air quality. An Act Restricting Toxic PFAS Chemicals in Consumer Products to Protect Our Health will ban the use of toxic PFAS in carpets, rugs, upholstered furniture, textile sprays, car seats, personal care products, and cookware.
You can help end and reduce these toxic routes of exposure by sending a message to your representatives below!
