Due to the recent Supreme Court decision reversing several of Governor Whitmer’s executive orders, we need the Michigan Legislature to act now to protect Michigan residents from water shutoffs for non-payment. We know that washing hands frequently can help reduce the spread of COVID-19, and it is critical that all Michigan residents have access to running water during this pandemic.
Senate Bill 241 would create a temporary moratorium on water shutoffs and would require water utilities to turn water service back on to households that have been shut off.
UPDATE: as of December 10th this has passed the Michigan Senate!
Contact your State House Representative today and ask them to support SB 241!
