Please RSVP below!
During this event, attendees will engage in a mutual aid workshop focused on environmental justice. The goal is to deepen community understanding of how issues like homelessness, public health disparities, and unequal life outcomes are intertwined with our environment. For instance, environmental injustice often disproportionately affects marginalized communities, particularly people of color and low-income individuals, who are more likely to live in areas with higher levels of pollution and fewer resources to mitigate its impacts.
Throughout the workshop, participants will uncover the hidden threats present in Jersey City, shedding light on the health risks posed by environmental pollutants. By the end of the session, attendees will be encouraged to take political action by signing environmental justice petitions, advocating for policies that protect vulnerable populations, and promoting community resilience.
The mutual aid component of the event will facilitate an exchange of items, emphasizing reuse, sustainability, and community engagement. By fostering a sense of collective responsibility, we aim to empower residents to address environmental injustices and work towards a healthier, more equitable Jersey City.
