The plastics industry is mounting a misinformation campaign claiming reusable bags spread coronavirus while extolling the virtues of single use plastic bags. This has led public officials and stores across the country to prohibit reusable bags and delay or overturn laws banning plastic bags. Yet recent study have found that the virus lasts longer on polypropylene plastic (up to three days) and that reusable products like tote bags, are safe when washed and reused.
