Historically, low-income and communities of color have been disproportionately impacted by environmental hazards, yet have not had equitable opportunities to participate in decisions about these hazards. The Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) recently revised their Environmental Justice Policy which helps guide them in integrating Environmental Justice (EJ) into more aspects of their regulatory work and outlines opportunities for greater community involvement in the application process for permits in EJ communities.
Take Action! DEP is now accepting comments until Nov 30th on the final version of their revised policy. Weigh in with DEP today on the need to empower and uplift voices in EJ communities.
