In the fall of 2020, Pittsburgh City Council passed a resolution “to enhance public awareness and commit to drafting and introducing legislation that will prevent the Pittsburgh community from being further poisoned by lead.”
Opponents inside city government are now testing council’s resiliency to that commitment by trying to stall the Pittsburgh Lead Safety Ordinance which would protect residents of rental properties and child-occupied facilities; stop repairs, renovations and painting that disturbs lead-based paint; and demolitions that stir up lead dust.
Email your councilmember and the mayor TODAY and get them back on track by urge them to introduce and pass a robust policy that helps further eliminate lead poising in our city.
