Tell RI Legislators:
It’s time to ban PFAS!

Minnesota just became the latest state to ban toxic PFAS. I urge you to support Rhode Island's Comprehensive PFAS Ban Act of 2023 (S196/H5673) and push for its passage before the 2023 legislative session ends.

I was excited to hear that Rhode Island joined the national trend of protecting residents from exposure to toxic PFAS last session with the passage of laws to remove PFAS from food packaging and set a maximum contaminant limit on PFAS in our waterways. But I am concerned that PFAS can still be found in many common household items like baby bibs, outdoor gear, and carpets. Plus, firefighting foam containing PFAS continues to be a threat to waterways and to firefighters! We need to reduce our exposure to PFAS in our homes and in our environment, with a focus on protecting young children.

I am urging you to support and pass The Comprehensive PFAS Ban Act of 2023 (S196/H5673). We can’t begin to protect our waterways from these “forever chemicals” without first halting their production and consumption.
