Why? PFAS are a class of chemicals added to products to make them stain and water resistant, but they are harmful to human health and don’t break down in the environment, so these toxic “forever chemicals” accumulate in our water and in our bodies.
PFAS are still found in many household items like some carpets, cookware, outdoor apparel, cosmetics, and baby gear even though safer alternatives exist.
This year, state legislatures across the country, including Rhode Island, are proposing bans on the use of PFAS in many common products to protect consumers AND to protect the communities where products are manufactured. But time is running out for our RI elected officials to vote on RI’s PFAS ban. You can help!
Send a message to your state legislators today asking them to ensure that the Comprehensive PFAS Ban Act of 2024 (S2152/H7356) is passed this session!
