Stop Transporting LNG by Rail
Transportation of Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) by rail cars is a reckless decision that threatens our environment and climate as well as exposes people to potentially catastrophic public safety effects if a container is punctured in an accident, derailment or other incident.
The Trump Administration lifted a long-standing ban on transporting LNG by rail. During that time, the Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration (PHMSA) issued a Special Permit to transport LNG by rail car through eastern Pennsylvania to New Jersey for a proposed LNG export terminal on the Delaware River. The Special Permit expired and PHMSA is currently deciding how to handle the application.
Join us in calling on the Biden Administration and PHMSA to deny the request for this Special Permit and to take steps toward restoring the ban.
